Welcome to the blog for Prof. John Talbird's English 220 class. The purpose of this site is two-fold: 1) to continue the conversations we start in class (or to start conversations before we get to class) and 2) to practice our writing, reading, and thinking on a weekly basis in an informal setting.

response to The Rememeberer
I like the sort of magic-realism this story almost immediately introduces. She knows her lover is De-evolving, acknowledges it, but is otherwise unfazed by the peculiarity of it all. Rather than spiral out in wonder of how this is happening and telling everyone she can about it, she just sorta goes with it. The idea of a person degrading backwards through the evolutionary timeline is an interesting concept, juxtaposed by how casually she reacts to it. While she does miss "Human Ben" she doesn't caterwaul or break down because it. And though it has a scientific pretense, it is indeed a work of magic realism. I always adore magic realism pieces such as this. And though short, it certainly tells a whole story.
