Response to Bicentennial Stanza #21

In the poem Bicentennial by Dan Chiasson, in stanza number 21 that the author had no childhood because he had no father. At five years old, he sees his dad with another family, “his brand new family”. I assume he just got married and have a new child too. Also, that if his new family and father made it as far, maybe the can last even longer. Since he didn't stay with his first family. I think that maybe he left his mom for his new family. The coincidence that he sees his father on a day of celebration. A day he supposed to be happy, all the bad memories come to play in his head. However, I don't believe he holds grudges against him because he called him handsome. This last stanza was awkward and sentimental. You can’t just imagine what are the emotions of a five years old child if you haven’t gone through that experience.
