Welcome to the blog for Prof. John Talbird's English 220 class. The purpose of this site is two-fold: 1) to continue the conversations we start in class (or to start conversations before we get to class) and 2) to practice our writing, reading, and thinking on a weekly basis in an informal setting.

Reflection on Youn's March of the Hanged Man
The most obvious imagery Youn uses in March of the Hanged Man is that of infinity. Initially, we are greeted with the sight of giant black ants teeming from a hole in the sand as if on an infinite loop. We also see a parallel between Christ, a representative of eternal life for Christians, and the march of the ants. With reference to Piero della Francesca's Resurrection, the author compares the march to Christ's march over the soldiers depicted in the painting, an eternal loop to and from hell and earth.
