Welcome to the blog for Prof. John Talbird's English 220 class. The purpose of this site is two-fold: 1) to continue the conversations we start in class (or to start conversations before we get to class) and 2) to practice our writing, reading, and thinking on a weekly basis in an informal setting.

New Sudden Fiction "Rosa Blanca"
This short story was very interesting to me and left me in shock. I personally think this story was perfect as a short story because it had gotten to the point without a lot of fluff. Rosa Blanca had been sleeping with a bunch of men at the same time. She then gets married while she was already married to another man. She helps kill her father-in-law and second husband after he killed her first husband. After all the men in her life are dead she ends up inheriting all her second husband's money and is rich. Like wow that sounds like a scene from a movie. Then to only realized he is telling his mother's story. My favorite part of the story was the first sentence on the last page "No, Ricky killed him. My Father was Carlos." The fact that his mother was sleeping with Ricky and Carlos at the same time. She never even told her son who his real father was, why would she lie to her son? The only question I would have is for the son, how does he feel about being told a lie from his mother his whole life. I would feel so betrayed.
