letters from Williamsburg

The introduction to this essay is giving us a look in to the authors relationship with  God. She starts by talking about the different types of prayer and when she does that it drives me to think about that calm/ content feeling one receives by being able to confess their feelings and thoughts.  But then she shifts from talking about prayer to the inner battle some people have with prayer and the concepts that religion hold. She talks about what i think a lot of people one point in their life have felt, which is why there are these certain rules we have to follow and why is that we can only find that type of joy and peace with praying to "God." She talks about the manifestation of  a spiritual power i  people and how it drives us to do good so why is it that we can not just have that consistency in everyday life that people look to other people for that contentment and not this higher power that is believed to be there but not seen .

The conclusion is supposed to wrap up the authors thoughts and give purpose to why the work was written and i do think that she did a nifty job in doing so. Throughout the essay we see her getting lost with in the social constructs that we created and falling in to a depression, when breaking out she still seemed to be a lost but with freedom. When she wrote the last paragraph i think she did exactly what she was supposed to which is give an explanation and reestablish her stance. she does this by speaking about how she can have a strong relationship with god and then go to not having one at all to then saying she made sense of the world by looking beyond and that when she felt content and wanted to pray but didn't.
