WHY POETRY: A PARTIAL AUTOBIOGRAPHY

My interpretation of Mr. Teicher's Poem, it sounds as if he was unsure of himself as a child. He was looking for his place in the world. Not understanding why he was so different than other boys his age. It sounded as if he was an introvert, always in his head and not interacting with other people. Being bullied by the other children for having this fear of life.  Finding poetry he was able to find his outlet, some place to explain his thoughts and feelings. I wonder if he never found poetry what would he have done? With all the dark in his mind, what if he didn't find the light? Would he have become violent?  If he didn't have poetry he might have lost his mind in fear, not ever finding his outlet.
