Welcome to the blog for Prof. John Talbird's English 220 class. The purpose of this site is two-fold: 1) to continue the conversations we start in class (or to start conversations before we get to class) and 2) to practice our writing, reading, and thinking on a weekly basis in an informal setting.

Response to "from Winehouse"
Amy Winehouse was a musical legend whose life so tragically ended too soon. To hear a work of poetry written in reflection of her voice obtains a depth I can truly appreciate. "I sleep to see what I might find.", the end of the first stanza speaks volumes to the various meanings it could fulfill. To maybe use the natural state of sleep and rest to escape the unnatural experiences of days. "I'm in love with the light", the last stanzas first sentence, makes me imagine a person with so much weight on their shoulders that they inevitably rather enjoy the light that's said to meet you in your transition to afterlife rather than the light we meet every morning we wake.
