Ekphrastic poetry

Open space By: Avery Lemonnier

A ekphrastic poem based off of Jackson Pollack big dipper art collection

Chaos rings like a Saturday afternoon
Blurred lined and forgotten dimensions
What is time when you sink deeper and deeper within the lines
Spat, Swoosh, splat the sound of the empty drum

The depths of the unknown and the outcry of dark changes a character to a madman
The gleam of the colors shine upon your skin, the different hues are majestic lost in your
embrace
The chaos rings from left to right

Right to left I search for the movement of the mystery
I look up to the sky and search for you in the stars
Like a meteor you’re my streak of light
There you are hiding in plain sight, oh the lines the blurry lines lost in the dimensions of
watching you, wanting you maybe even needing you.

I journeyed between galaxies and sailed the skies for miles
Watcher of the skies I see your eyes
The emptiness of your embrace leaves me sinking deeper and deeper in desire
Chaos and fear fills my mind oh dear I forgotten the time

Endless vast of open skies my shooting star

  1. I found this poem very deep in that how it compared the lines and colors to dimensions chaos. I found it to have very interesting perspective based on the painting.
