Welcome to the blog for Prof. John Talbird's English 220 class. The purpose of this site is two-fold: 1) to continue the conversations we start in class (or to start conversations before we get to class) and 2) to practice our writing, reading, and thinking on a weekly basis in an informal setting.

The Laramie Project play movie version
In my perspective, the movie version of the Laramie Project was more interesting. It touched my heart more than the book version. I believe that if the hate crime laws were out around the years that the murder happened, things might have been slightly different. Hate crime is a very serious topic. Today, there are people who hate gays but not as much as when the Laramie Project took place. Today we accept people for who they are. The project was a good idea. It basically opened up peoples eyes to see things in a different perspective. Because of it, people gathered up to march for Matt. This should be shown to high school and college students. This is a great play to watch and a great way to be educated on what has happened in the past.
