Welcome to the blog for Prof. John Talbird's English 220 class. The purpose of this site is two-fold: 1) to continue the conversations we start in class (or to start conversations before we get to class) and 2) to practice our writing, reading, and thinking on a weekly basis in an informal setting.

The Laramie Project Film Response
In the film, there is no narrator, so the characters do not get introduce. You can figure out who is who by what they are saying or if someone else says their name. In the play, there's a narrator saying the person's name. In the film, there is a lot of scenery which gives you a perspective on how Laramie looks like. In the play, you can't see it, you just imagine it. Also, the are a lot of closed up shots in the film which gives it a personal perspective while in the play you are far away from the actors. I felt more touch with the film than the play. Actually, seeing the actors so closed up and the emotions, makes you feel like you there in that time. This is rare for me because I usually like the written work more than films. I guess it's because this play is written differently and in the film, it comes out perfectly.
