The Laramie Project Act II

Moment: Two Queers and a Catholic Priest

I believe the authors made this play into a story because it refers to specific moments and they give the interviewee's perception. They are interviewing multiple members of the community and expressing how they feel about what has happened to Matthew Shepard in their own words. The one specific moment that caught my attention was with Father Roger Schmit, it was very refreshing to have a father actually stand up for what is right. He knows in his heart the killing of Matthew Shepard was wrong and wanted the story to be told in that manner. He doesn't want the story to be incorrect and I respect him a lot for that. Some other fathers from the catholic church wouldn't have wanted to hold a vigil for a gay man. The fact that he deals with the true, many people don't accept the truth.
