Welcome to the blog for Prof. John Talbird's English 220 class. The purpose of this site is two-fold: 1) to continue the conversations we start in class (or to start conversations before we get to class) and 2) to practice our writing, reading, and thinking on a weekly basis in an informal setting.

Bicentennial #4
Quote: " could find the exact site in Paris, by the Seine, where the princess died.. and see the spot, and remember the night she died." It seems that the writer is escaping from something traumatic, so he chooses to forget by using ecstasy, something that helps release fear, Sadness, a feel of lost and bring you only happy thoughts, a world of love and hope. He refer in this part to a princess who died in France, I think he is referring to princess Diana who died in a car accident in France, her death brought a lot of sadness and shocked people all over the world. It seems he brings it to describe his world, that crushed and caused him and his friends to use drugs to forget, not to deal with reality.
