Welcome to the blog for Prof. John Talbird's English 220 class. The purpose of this site is two-fold: 1) to continue the conversations we start in class (or to start conversations before we get to class) and 2) to practice our writing, reading, and thinking on a weekly basis in an informal setting.

Why Poetry (Post)
The author is describing how poetry was the right option for him. He described himself as dangerous. "My mind, quite clearly a dangerous place to be: I could think" is a sentence that describes the authors mind. He considers it a place that no one would want to be in. He didn't match with other things. He has his perfect match with poetry. Poetry can help relieve the dangerous minds. Poetry is a way to free the mind. The author probably felt free when he started poetry. The poem Why Poetry describes what he went through before he chose poetry. It seems like poetry is his passion.
